Asia Supercomputer Community to launch ASC15 at SC14

11 Nov 2014 New Orleans - The world's biggest student supercomputer challenge, the ASC student supercomputer challenge, will kick off a new session for 2015. The registration will open on November 18 during the SC14 conference with a demonstration on site.

At the demonstration, the champion of ASC14, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will share their experiences; the HPC AC committee member Mr. Tong Liu will tell the difference between the SC,ISC, and ASC student supercomputer challenge; and the ASC director Dr. Kitty Ji will give some details of ASC15.

All ASC interested parties are more than welcome to join the demonstration. The first 50 registered teams will receive a free Xeon Phi card and tutorial book. University teams registered during SC14 can also gain an additional ASC memorial coin. An Ipad mini will be the lucky draw for the demonstration.

ASC15 has already attracted many universities from different countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico and so on, so ASC15 is heading to receive registrations from 100+ universities. If so, the organizers could rewrite the record of ASC14, 82 teams, and stay on top as the world's biggest student supercomputer challenge.

There are also many regions that have applied to be the host of ASC15 including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HongKong, China Shandong province, China Shanxi province, and China Liaoning province. This indicates that the ASC challenge is highly recognized worldwide.

ASC also obtained much attention from the heads of many countries. For example, the Premier of Singapore, Lee Hsian Loong was very happy when he knew that Nanyang Technological University had gained the Silver Winner position of ASC14.

"I read in Lianhe Zaobao that a team of Nanyang Technological University students had come in second out of 82 international teams at the world's largest supercomputer competition in Guangzhou. The teams had to develop the fastest and most optimized mini-supercomputer", stated Lee Hsian Loong.

Interested parties are invited to come to the ASC booth and join in the ASC demonstration on November 18 at 2:00 PM. The first 20 media friends can get the ASC memorial coin.
