CANCOM accelerates client innovation through the Cloud with IBM PureSystems

25 Oct 2013 Munich / Stuttgart-Ehningen - TecDAX listed company CANCOM SE will use PureSystems to provide its CANCOM AHP Private Cloud Desktop solution. The CANCOM AHP Private Cloud will provide remote access to corporate applications and data using any device that is connected to the internet, providing a mobile and flexible IT workplace for their clients. The high degree of standardization and automation that the CANCOM AHP Private Cloud provides helps clients to maximize their resources and lower their operational costs.

"A flexible infrastructure is the basis for a successful private Cloud environment, and to enable the virtualization, consolidation, security and manageability of the system is very important", stated Manfred Hoevel, Senior Vice President at CANCOM. "For our customers, the IBM PureSystems platform provides the perfect complement to our Private Cloud Architecture."

CANCOM has implemented an IBM PureFlex System configured with both IBM Power Systems and x-86 based compute nodes. This allows them to reduce cost and complexity for the company, removing the need to purchase, install and manage separate infrastructures for these environments. Networking is provided by an integrated IBM Flex System Fabric Switch connected to an IBM RackSwitch solution.

The flexibility provided by PureSystems means that CANCOM's data centre can better respond to changes in demand and provide dynamic application and virtual desktop environments even when deploying services to remote offices.

Headquartered in Munich, Germany, CANCOM is one of the largest IT providers in Germany. The comprehensive product and service portfolio ranges from consulting and the design of IT architecture for the procurement and integration to operation of the systems.

Besides CANCOM, since the systems were launched in April 2012, more than 8,000 clients from 100 countries have decided that the IBM PureSystems family offers an alternative to current enterprise computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant resources to set up and maintain.

IBM Systems and Technology Group offers a full range of offerings supporting public, private and hybrid Cloud implementations that integrate with IBM's Cloud software and services. This Systems portfolio includes IBM System x racks and BladeCenter, NeXtScale, PureFlex, Power Systems and System z servers, and IBM Storage solutions.

The IBM PureSystems family offers clients an alternative to current enterprise computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant resources to set up and maintain. The PureFlex System enables organisations to more efficiently create and manage an infrastructure. PureApplication Systems help organisations reduce the cost and complexity of rapidly deploying and managing applications. PureData Systems are tuned for cloud computing and can consolidate more than 100 databases on a single system. In addition to the common web application patterns supported by PureApplication System, the combination of both PureData and PureApplication Systems can be used for end to end transaction workloads.
