Mellanox ships more than 2.1 million Ethernet adapters in the first three quarters of 2018

25 Oct 2018 Sunnyvale, Yokneam - Mellanox Technologies Ltd., a supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data centre servers and storage systems, has shipped more than 2.1 million Ethernet adapters during the first nine months of 2018. This milestone is significant, as it signals that high-performance Ethernet technology - 25G and faster - has moved beyond the Super 7 Cloud and web titans. The adoption of high-performance Ethernet technology has spread to enterprise data centres globally, including the next wave of Cloud, telco/service providers, financial services and more.

Mellanox is benefiting from this transition and gaining market share as the leading provider of high-performance Ethernet adapters at 25, 50, and 100 Gb/s with 69% revenue share of the merchant market according to the latest available Crehan Research Report. This market leadership is driven by the unique hardware accelerators and broad software support of the Mellanox ConnectX family of Ethernet adapters. The ConnectX family acts as an infrastructure coprocessor that integrates hardware acceleration engines that offload application data transport, storage, security, and network processing from server CPUs.

This frees valuable compute resources to run mission critical workloads including Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence, enterprise, software defined networking. As a result, customers enjoy greater data centre efficiency that enables them to do more work with less. This improved efficiency is combined with the broadest and most robust support for all of the major software platforms including Linux, Microsoft, and VMware. Mellanox market leadership is the result of this unmatched combination of hardware and software technology.

"We are in the early stages of a multi-year transition to faster Ethernet speeds, which is driving increased demand for our solutions. We are gaining market share with shipments to multiple tier-one end user, hyperscale, enterprise data centre, OEM, telecom, and federal customers", stated Eyal Waldman, president and CEO, Mellanox Technologies. "We believe the growth of data is the cause of this transition and will translate into significant additional growth in 2019 and beyond. For adapters at 25 Gb/s and above Mellanox is the clear market leader and de facto standard. Our programmable BlueField family of Smart NICs and storage adapters includes storage, virtualization and security accelerator engines that further improves the efficiency and security of cloud and enterprise workloads. We have multiple BlueField design wins with OEM and ODM customers that will fuel additional growth."

"The adoption of 25GbE adapters is accelerating and Mellanox has currently established itself as the market share leader in this segment", stated Seamus Crehan, president, Crehan Research. "Key drivers for this acceleration include deployments of flash based storage media, numerous machine intelligence and learning initiatives, network offloading and real-time analytics. Mellanox's 25GbE adapters have become a key element in helping to drive the data center transformation needed to achieve the improved performance and efficiency of these demanding applications."

Mellanox offers a full end-to-end high-performance Ethernet networking product line of ConnectX adapters, BlueField SmartNICs and storage controllers, Spectrum switches, and LinkX cables and transceivers that deliver world leading price-performance. These solutions range from 10 to 100 Gb/s and are adopted by customers globally to improve their data center workload efficiency and create actionable analytics to monetize their business data.

Mellanox ConnectX adapters are available today for all major CPU architectures and pre-installed from all leading server OEMs and ODMs and thru Mellanox PartnerFirst channel partners worldwide.
