Innovative HPC-in-the-Cloud service for China enabled by Bright Cluster Manager

23 Oct 2013 San Jose - Bright Cluster Manager has been deployed into production by Bingo Software Co. Ltd. (BingoSoft) of Guangzhou, China to deliver HPC services for its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Cloud platform BingoCloud. Bright enables the provisioning, monitoring, and management of HPC clusters, as well as the extension of these clusters into private Clouds, all within BingoCloud.

With local support from Bright Computing partner Paratera, Bright Cluster Manager has been accelerating deployment and easing management of HPC services within BingoCloud for a few months now. In this initial stage, BingoCloud users work directly with the GUI provided by Bright. In the next stage however, use will be made of the Bright API so that the result is localized for the Chinese marketplace.

"BingoCloud pioneered the localization of an IaaS Cloud platform for China", stated Yang Qiu, BingoCloud Product Manager at BingoSoft. "For the past three years, we have been establishing a provider-of-choice reputation for customers such as the Beijing Rendering Platform, China Telecom, Guangzhou Metro and the South China University of Technology. Bright Cluster Manager allowed us to rapidly integrate the most comprehensive and robust solution for managing the HPC services into BingoCloud. Bright's use of open standards, availability of a rich API, plus ability to support customized HPC configurations, makes for a natural fit in our IaaS platform. The expertise provided by Beijing-based Paratera was critical in selecting Bright for our HPC service in BingoCloud."

"Paratera and Bright Computing have had a strategic partnership in place for about two years now", stated Dr. Chen Jian, CTO at Paratera. "With BingoCloud, HPC-in-the-Cloud is now a production reality for numerous organisations. BingoSoft has demonstrated leadership and innovation in serving to frame and validate the IaaS Cloud platform opportunity in China. We are delighted to have recommended Bright Cluster Manager for BingoCloud, and look forward to playing a role as this exciting venture continues to mature and expand."

"Bright Computing is delighted to be playing such a significant role in BingoCloud", stated Dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen, CEO of Bright Computing. "By working locally with our partner Paratera, BingoSoft has access to a local provider of services and support for Bright Cluster Manager. The BingoCloud IaaS Cloud platform is impressive in its scope. Bright Computing applauds the effort expended by BingoSoft in delivering a solution that is localized to the needs of its government and education, plus commercial telecom and enterprise customers."

Under development since 2008, BingoCloud entered into production in 2010. Having matured into production, BingoCloud presents a single pane of glass into a number of cloud-based services that include:

  • Integrated compute and storage services that target the needs of its Big Data customers;
  • Classic enterprise services built around application servers and relational databases; plus
  • Specialized HPC services, such as a comprehensive solution for rendering digital content.
The BingoCloud IaaS Cloud platform delivers a comprehensive, reliable and standards-based pay for use offering that has been localized for the Chinese marketplace. Because BingoCloud integrates and virtualizes resources, while standardizing and automating IT practices, this customer-ready offering actually delivers on the promise of HPC-in-the-Cloud.
