HP Enterprise Cloud Services selected for USPS Federal Cloud Credential Exchange

2 Oct 2013 Palo Alto - HP Enterprise Services has been selected by SecureKey Technologies Inc. as a subcontractor to provide enterprise Cloud services to host the United States Postal Service's (USPS) new authentication infrastructure. The U.S. government's Federal Cloud Credential Exchange (FCCX), which enables on-line access to multiple federal agencies, will offer individuals and organisations secure access to federal websites and on-line services through existing, approved digital identification credentials.

Under the contract, HP will deliver HP Enterprise Cloud Services - Virtual Private Cloud for U.S. Public Sector, a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Programme (FedRAMP) authorized service, to host SecureKey’s briidge.net Exchange application for the implementation of FCCX. Part of the HP Converged Cloud portfolio, HP Enterprise Cloud Services deliver the benefits of a Cloud-based approach without sacrificing the security required for mission-critical workloads.

"Security and privacy are absolutely critical for the delivery and accessibility of on-line citizen services by means of FICAM credentials", stated Scott Lowry, general manager, U.S. Public Sector and Health Care, SecureKey. "The FCCX offers a superb example of how public-private partnerships can work effectively to help agencies achieve ambitious objectives securely. We are delighted to be working with HP to host the briidge.net Exchange Platform."

The National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) and the Federal Identity, Credential and Access Management (FICAM) initiative call on all agencies to establish FCCX in an effort to broaden government acceptance of approved third-party credentials of varying strengths and types.

"Agencies are faced with delivering the next level of customer service as citizens are increasingly looking to the federal government to provide services on-line", stated Marilyn Crouther, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services. “HP is committed to supporting federal Cloud computing initiatives like USPS' innovative implementation of FCCX by delivering enterprise solutions that are built with security and flexibility in mind."

HP Enterprise Cloud Services - Virtual Private Cloud for U.S. Public Sector provides government, health care and education organisations with increased flexibility and agility to meet growing demands for services. This pay-as-you-use enterprise Cloud service is designed to support mission-critical workloads and meet the U.S. public sector’s requirements for data protection and availability through an Infrastructure-as-a-Service model.

HP leverages its 50 years of experience managing government systems to create the HP Enterprise Cloud Services - Virtual Private Cloud for U.S. Public Sector infrastructures with security built in at the core. It received the FedRAMP provisional Authority To Operate (pATO) and recently was determined by an independent Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO) to meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) compliance requirements.
