Oracle Executive Vice President John Fowler spotlights Oracle's Engineered Systems

4 Oct 2011 San Francisco - During his keynote presentation at Oracle OpenWorld 2011 in San Francisco, Oracle Executive Vice President John Fowler showcased Oracle's expanded family of engineered systems and appliances designed to deliver extreme performance and value for customers.

John Fowler spotlighted Oracle's recently announced SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 and SPARC T4 servers with Oracle Solaris.

The SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 combines Oracle's SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle Solaris with the optimized database performance of Oracle Exadata storage cells, the accelerated middleware and application processing of the Exalogic Elastic Cloud software, and offers internal shared disk storage via Oracle's Sun ZFS Storage 7320 Appliance.

John Fowler also discussed Oracle's storage portfolio, including Pillar Axiom Storage Systems and Oracle's new third-generation Sun ZFS Storage Appliances, which offer enterprise NAS functionality, and best-in-class performance, efficiency, data integrity and integration with Oracle software.

Oracle Chief Corporate Architect Edward Screven joined John Fowler to discuss Oracle Linux and Oracle's Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, a highly optimized kernel for the Oracle Linux operating system. He also covered Oracle Virtualization, the most complete, open and integrated virtualization offering from

desktop-to-datacentre which includes Oracle VM 3.0 and Oracle VM for SPARC, optimized for Oracle’s SPARC T4 servers.
