"Now is the perfect time for us to expand our team and open an office in Washington D.C., as many federal agencies, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and various government research labs, are looking to WekaIO for technical leadership in data analytics and high-performance computing", stated Richard Dyke, vice president of sales, WekaIO. "Ted joins the WekaIO team as a seasoned sales leader and his deep experience in the federal space is a valuable asset that will help fuel our growth in this market."
Ted Purnell joins the organisation after having spent many years working with federal agencies on hardware and software implementations for their IT infrastructures. Prior to joining WekaIO, Ted worked for such notable companies as Blue River Information Technology, Riverbed Technology, Moogsoft, and Instart Logic.
The U.S. federal government is one of the biggest producers of data, amassing hundreds of petabytes each year. The data collected is a major driver of the American economy as businesses use this government data to make decisions and integrate it into products and services sold to consumers. High-performance computing (HPC) is of paramount importance to accelerated time-to-discovery, which is a key driver for the acquisition of GPU-enabled services. Legacy storage systems used to support traditional HPC workflows can no longer keep up with the increasing, extreme performance demands. The Weka File System (WekaFS) is the only file system that can keep GPUs saturated with data, and as such is appropriately lauded as the premier file system for HPC.
