Mellanox Ethernet solutions enable Cloud-based businesses to achieve higher level of efficiency and scalability over VMware vSphere 6

31 Aug 2015 San Francisco - Mellanox Technologies Ltd., a supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions, showcased Cloud connectivity over 25, 50 and 100Gb/s Ethernet at the Mellanox booth during VMworld 2015. The demonstration utilized VMware vSphere 6, VMware Virtual SAN 6 all flash and network virtualization platform, and VMware NSX, that are all connected over ConnectX-4 NICs and LinkX cables. The new data connectivity speeds enable cost-efficient scaling of network bandwidth delivered to server and storage endpoints in next-generation Cloud infrastructure, where workloads are expected to surpass the capacity of 10 or 40Gb/s Ethernet links deployed today.

"We are pleased to work with Mellanox to enable faster data communication, enabling customers to realize high-performance Cloud solutions", stated Howard Hall, senior director, Global Technology Partner Organization, VMware.

ConnectX-4 is the first network interface card (NIC) in the industry to deliver 10, 25, 40, 50 and 100Gb/s Ethernet connectivity. Combined with Mellanox's Spectrum Ethernet switch and LinkX copper and fiber cables, ConnectX-4 will enable customers to build the most advanced Cloud infrastructure and to compete in today's global market, where enterprises are increasingly required to perform more and quicker data-intensive analytics.

"We are proud to continue our technology leadership and to be the first to support all of the standard Ethernet speeds over one NIC", stated Kevin Deierling, vice president, marketing, Mellanox Technologies. "Enabling faster data communication in data centres gives Cloud customers more economical and scalable ways to connect servers and storage, and higher flexibility to customize the infrastructure to their needs."
