DistrRTgen added to BOINC project list

10 Aug 2011 Berkeley - DistrRTgen has been added to the BOINC project list. Its goal is to give the world's security experts tools for detecting weak hashes, helping to improve methods of password protection.

The goal of FreeRainbowTables.com is to give the worlds security experts the best tools available for detecting weak hashes. This can help them to force the developers to use more secure methods of password protection.

By distributing the generation of rainbow chains, it is possible to generate huge rainbow tables that are able to crack longer passwords than ever seen before.

Furthermore, the team is also improving the rainbow table technology, making them even smaller and faster than rainbow tables found elsewhere, and the best thing is, those tables are freely available to download from the site by anyone.
