1st International IRISC Workshop to issue Call for Participation

15 Aug 2011 Helsinki - The IRISC Workshop on Identity in Research Infrastructure and Scientific Communication will be held September 12-13, 2011 in Helsinki, Finland. The workshop addresses researcher identification and authentication and is dealing with identification and authentication, which is a central challenge for all ESFRI Roadmap Infrastructures. The amount of workshop attendees is limited to 120.

Are you a provider of IT services for a research community? Do you need to identify, authenticate and authorize researchers from various research organizations and countries? Would you like to influence to the practices of your discipline?

The IRISC2011 workshop will bring together representatives from communities of identity experts, users, funders and other stakeholders. Key aims of the workshop include:

  • Raising overall awareness of the key technical and non-technical challenges, opportunities and developments in the area
  • Facilitating the dialogue, exchange of the ideas, collaboration and co-ordination between the identity infrastructures and disciplines
  • Identifying & discussing existing/emerging technologies, best practices and requirements for researcher identification

The workshop has two main interrelated themes:

  • Identification of authors/creators of research papers and other scholarly works
  • Identification for access management purposes, with a focus on federated identity management
