Intel stops production of Knights Landing/Xeon Phi processors
23 Jul 2018 Santa Clara - Intel announced it will discontinue the HPC focused products Knights Landing (KNL) processors - officially called Xeon Phi. "Knights" processors were seen as Intel's answer to GPUs and Power 9 to power the exascale and other HPC computers of the future. However, it seems that Intel had trouble in producing large quantities of the Xeon Phi in a stable fashion.
The last products can be ordered until August 31th, 2018. The last product discontinuance shipment date is July 19th, 2019. The exact Intel Xeon Phi processors affected are: 7210, 7210F, 7230, 7230F, 7250, 7250F, 7290, and 7290F.
