HPC Advisory Council announces 3rd Annual Spain Supercomputing Conference

1 Jul 2014 Barcelona - The HPC Advisory Council, an organisation for high-performance computing research, outreach and education, in conjunction with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, will host the 3rd Annual HPC Advisory Council Spain Conference 2014 at the University of Cantabria, Cantabria, Spain, on September 24th, 2014. Speaker and sponsorship opportunities are available. Participants have to make sure to register early to ensure their seat at the conference.

The conference will focus on the following subjects:

  • High-performance computing systems
  • High-speed networks
  • High-performance and parallel I/O
  • Communication libraries: MPI, SHMEM, PGAS
  • Advanced topics / technologies / development / the road to Exascale
  • GPU computing, CUDA, OpenCL
  • New HPC initiatives and programmes

In conjunction with the HPC Advisory Council Spain Conference, the Spanish Supercomputing network will be celebrating its 8th RES Users Meeting the previous day on September 23rd.

"The HPC Advisory Council is pleased to collaborate again with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for this upcoming High-Performance Computing education and outreach conference in Spain", stated Gilad Shainer, chairman of the HPC Advisory Council. "This is an excellent educational opportunity for European-based, HPC and data centre IT professionals."

"We place a strong importance on HPC education to enable users and IT administrators to better receive the enormous potential of their supercomputing systems for their development of science and technology", stated Sergi Girona, Operations Manager and RES co-ordinator at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. "BSC has a long tradition of training on parallel systems including programming models, tools, parallelization, etc., and we look forward to our continued collaboration with the HPC Advisory Council to

further HPC education."

Attendance to the conference is free. Registration for the conference is required and is now open. The one-day conference will include coffee breaks and lunch courtesy of the HPC Advisory Council. For more information you can visit the workshop website.
