26 Jun 2014 Leipzig - ISC'14 in Leipzig was a very good opportunity for Wolfgang Gentzsch, Chairman of ISC Cloud, and Sverre Jarp, Chairman of ISC Big Data, to announce their upcoming conferences at the end of September (29-30) and beginning of October (1-2) in Heidelberg, Germany.
ISC Cloud starts with a tutorial about hands-on getting into the Cloud so that you really learn every step from your workstation or desktop, going into the Cloud and then getting the data back. The conference continues with research and industry sessions presented by very experienced end users, resource and software providers and consulting companies who report about their expertise and lessons learned in the Cloud. Finally, towards the end, the participants can discuss challenges and how they have been solved in the Cloud so that they really can go home with a bag full of lessons learned and recommendations from this conference.
ISC Big Data will build upon what already has been discussed at ISC'14 in Leipzig and will continue to talk about how Big Data problems are being solved, addressing several successful use cases. The organizers are going to take a big dive into Hadoop and the best ways of using Hadoop and especially speeding it up. Privacy in Big Data will also be tackled: what are the rights of people who have been swallowed into large quantities by corporations gathering all the data they can about every individual? In Leipzig, Big Data experts have been talking about the core of a Big Data configuration. In Heidelberg, they will also talk about the edge to companies, such as car manufacturers, the Internet of Things, how billions and billions of sensors are going to be deployed in a Big Data scenario. People are going to start realizing that Big Data is on a long stretch. It will become more and more pervasive and going to have more and more influence on our society. There will also be some in-depth discussions with the vendors. Finally, the Big Project will present its final report at the ISC Big Data Conference.
Wolfgang Gentzsch stated that Sverre Jarp mentioned security, trust and privacy that is certainly something that is also something very valid and important in the Cloud so ISC Cloud is covering these aspects as well. Those who join both conferences will observe a merger of HPC, technical computing, and Big Data, especially when it comes to data analytics, where you need a lot of computing and also predictive analytics, where you use the Big Data to compute, to extract knowledge and expertise out of these data sets to predict what happens in the near future, for example with your customer base of with your manufacturing production line, etc.
Sverre Jarp mentioned the vendors. HP, Intel and Amazon this time are the premium platinum sponsors of the ISC Cloud Conference. ISC Cloud also has gold and silver sponsors. There are discussions with these vendors as well in a vendor panel to get their opinion from the providers' site. All parties are represented: the end users, the consumers, the resource and software providers, and the experts. Altogether they form the community that both conferences are covering.
Sverre Jarp told that ISC Big Data will also look carefully at analytics and will especially concentrate on the visual part of the analysis.
There will be also a social event which will be a boat trip on the Neckar, giving people some time to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery along the Neckar. ISC Cloud will have a barbecue at the Neckar river at the foot of the famous Heidelberg castle.
Wolfgang Gentzsch and Sverre Jarp have made available a prospectus about both conferences. Each conference also has a website where you can read further details:
