Presentations from NLeSC's Visualization Experts Meeting now available for download

12 May 2013 Amsterdam - On April 2nd 2013 the Netherlands eScience Center organized a Visualization Experts Meeting. The meeting was organized around the question whether the formation of an expert's platform for the visualization domain could serve the purpose of bringing visualization for science at a next level. Co-operations, cross learning, common interests and more could be achieved through strengthening the community. The event itself started with six pitches from different angles of visualization, from visualization as a science up to practical service delivery.

A requested keynote delivered by Britt Huijpen (SURF) concerned the model of Special Interest Groups that is available upon request for self-organisation by groups that want to establish a community.

The status of Special Interest Group has been requested and is now granted by SURF. The website and other infrastructural elements to support the SIG on visualization will be opened shortly. A first meeting of the group is set for mid June.

All in all this was a fruitful day indeed, with concrete steps forward and an enthusiastically participating audience. The presentations from the event are currently available.

Anyone involved in visualization, from research into techniques to local service provisioning can become member of the SIG. For the time being an e-mail with a little background and a formal request to become member can be sent to p.aerts@esciencecenter.nl . When the SIG-website is available applications can be handled through that system.

The presentations by the following speakers are now available:
