Each year, Gartner identifies a Cool Vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: innovative - enabling users to do things they couldn't do before; impactful - have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); and intriguing - have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
"We're honoured to have received this recognition, especially considering the company that we are in", stated Charlie Lougheed, Explorys President and Chief Technology Officer. "Data is the next frontier for medical discovery and health care delivery optimization. We're excited to be a driving force in that movement."
Explorys was founded in 2009 by "big data" pioneers Stephen McHale and Charlie Lougheed as a spinout from the Cleveland Clinic. Since then, Explorys has amassed data from numerous health care systems, including the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, MetroHealth, Summa Health System, and MedStar.
The company's technology is based upon a massively scalable Grid computing architecture designed for the unique demands related to the volume and complexity of health care data. Its data platforms aggregate and normalize electronic health care record (EHR) data across disparate systems, millions of patients and billions of clinical diagnoses, lab tests, medications, devices, and outcomes. Explorys now has contracts with several large pharmaceutical companies, in addition to its growing network of health care systems.
