One of the leading forums for learning about the newest developments and putting them in perspective is the 2011 International Supercomputing Conference to be held June 19-23 at the Congress Center Hamburg, Germany. ISC, now in its 26th year, is a global marketplace for innovative ideas and breaking news.
One of the most closely watched recurring sessions at ISC is the presentation of the twice-yearly TOP500 List of the world's most powerful supercomputers. Both research institutions and computer manufacturers strive to capture dominant positions on the list, which is compiled using results submitted in the weeks leading up to the conference. The 37th edition of the TOP500 list will be presented during the Opening Session of ISC'11 on Monday, June 20. A special session devoted to in-depth discussion of the list will be held from 2:30-4:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 21.
Another venue for learning about the latest research results in HPC is the ISC'11 Posters Sessions, to be held from 2:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, and 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22. Reading like an atlas, the list of nations with institutions presenting posters includes England, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, the Ukraine and the United States.
As ISC has grown dramatically over previous years - advance registration is nearly 20 percent ahead of last year's record-setting pace and on a trajectory to reach 2,300 - keeping track of every session can be a challenge. But once again, the conference will produce daily video blogs to recap each day's highlights and present short interviews with key participants. A link for viewing the blogs will be posted on the ISC website.
Another way to keep track of important happenings at ISC'11 is to use the ISC Agenda Planner, which allows you to sift through the extensive conference programme and select those must-attend sessions to compile your personalized schedule.
The complete ISC'11 programme, including an advance day of three full-day and eight half-day tutorials as well as workshops on "HPC in Asia" and "Mid-Market HPC", is now on-line.
ISC'11 offers flexible registration options, allowing attendees to sign up for the entire conference, just those days that meet their needs, or the exhibition of 150 leading vendors and research institutions.
