PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC nominations in now open


21 Mar 2016 Prague - At PRACEdays16 - the PRACE Scientific and Industrial Conference 2016, which will be held from 10 to 12 May in Prague, Czech Republic, under the motto HPC for Innovation: when Science meets Industry - PRACE will present for the first time the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC to a woman who is making an outstanding contribution to and impact on HPC in Europe, at a global level.

At PRACEdays14 three awards were presented: Best Poster, Best Scientific Presentation and Best Industrial Presentation. At PRACEdays15 an Award for Best Poster was presented. The PRACEdays16 Organisation and Programme Committee (OPC) decided for this year's edition to have a fourth award: the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC.

Nominations are now welcomed by PRACE. You can send your name and a 300-word description to submissions-pracedays@prace-ri.eu . The following selection criteria have to be addressed in your text:

  • The winner of this award must be a woman who is currently working in Europe or has been working in Europe during the past three years
  • She must have made an outstanding impact on HPC research, computational science or service provision at a global level
  • She must be working in academia or industry
  • She must be a role model for women beginning careers in HPC

The deadline to submit your nomination is: 30 March 2016, 12:00 (noon) CEST. The Selection Committee will take a final decision on 7 April, 2016.

The winner of the Award will be invited to participate in the concluding Panel Session at PRACEdays16, and will receive a cash prize of 1000 euro as well as a certificate and an engraved crystal trophy.
