29 Jan 2019 Geneva - Since 2016, the Helix Nebula Science Cloud (HNSciCloud) project has been investigating the hybrid Cloud model to support the deployment of high-performance computing and Big Data capabilities for scientific research. On 29 November 2018, the HNSciCloud project partners organized their Final Public Session - the HNSciCloud Results of the Pilot Phase Public Event - at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, to present the two hybrid Cloud platforms developed during the project that started in January 2016.
A dedicated group of research organisations, the "buyers", tested the HNSciCloud pilot platform services in different use cases. These organisations used Computing, Storage and Identitfy Manager services across four scientific domains, comparing the performance and costs of diverse applications. The four scientific domains included Astronomy, High Energy Physics, Photon/Neutron Sciences, and Life Sciences. Participants at the event could hear about the experience of the research organisations who deployed their real use-cases on these platforms.
The final HNSciCloud deliverables will be made public after the final project review in February 2019.
