PRACE, HPC applications and technological development: three ingredients for a top European strategy

13 Feb 2014 Brussels - Thierry Van der Pyl as Director for Excellence in Science at the European Commission is responsible for future imaging technology, but also for research infrastructures. During the H2020 Information Days on Research Infrastructures and Networking in Brussels on 13-14 February 2014, he talked in a video interview about the importance of a strong strategy for high performance computing in which PRACE plays a leading role, in addition to the applications, and the development of new European technologies to use supercomputers.

He also laid emphasis on data management and the infrastructure that would be needed. EGI plays a key role in this. In data management, there is also a need for a good Cloud strategy with a range of customized services.
