New CONVECTOR project studies mechanical engineering problems

4 Feb 2014 Prague - The CONVECTOR project is open and looking for volunteers. The project, based at the Czech Technical University in Prague, studies the optimization of mechanical systems - currently, a system called the "52-bar truss".

CONVECTOR is a research testing project, which uses volunteer computing. The project partners calculate the optimum of a discrete optimization problem, that of the 52 bar trus. You can participate by downloading and running a free programme on your computer.

The CONVECTOR project is the first attempt at volunteer computing at the Department of Mechanics of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

More information about CONVECTOR is available at http://convector.fsv.cvut.cz/52_bar_truss.pdf
