4 Jan 2012 Amsterdam - Since the first week of January 2012, the HPC Cloud facility is available for users. With this infrastructure, BiG Grid and SARA offer self-service, dynamically scalable and fully configurable HPC systems. The HPC Cloud offers fast compute clusters to users for whom other HPC facilities are not an option.
The infrastructure gives full control over a HPC cluster with fast CPUs and high memory nodes. It is also possible to attach Terabytes of local storage to a compute node. Because of this flexibility, users can fully tailor the system for a particular application.
The virtual HPC environment lets the user deploy personal, tailor made, development environments to a high performance production environment where the user obtains full control over the created virtual clusters. Protected by the safe Cloud environment that SARA provides, the user has a completely free choice of operating system and application software that can be installed.
