More than 100 teams expected for ASC15, road-showed at Melbourne and Nanjing

15 Dec 2014 Beijing - The registration of the 2015 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC15) has been launched worldwide. After SC14, the ASC15 "Road Show" has also been held in Melbourne, Australia and Nanjing, China, with a number of local universities attended.

According to the announcement from the organizers, including the Asia Supercomputing Community and Inspur group, the ASC15 global "Road Show" will continue to take place in Australia, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America and other districts. In China, the promotion cities are Beijing, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Xi'an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Hong Kong, and more.

ASC Executive Director Dr. Qing (Kitty) Ji stated: "Over 100 international universities are expected to register for ASC15, while the number of overseas university is expected to exceed 50. In order to better inspire students' interests and their enthusiasm for learning supercomputing, the ASC15 committee will reward the first 50 registered universities with a free Xeon Phi MIC accelerator card and the first published MIC HPC book in the world - "High-Performance Computing on the Intel Xeon Phi" - sponsored by Inspur Group."

ASC was established in 2012. After three years of development, it completed the 'Triple Jump' from China to Asia and Asia to the world. Now it has become the most globally influential supercomputing event, as there were 82 international universities that participated in ASC14.
