European Commission to issue report with Cloud standards

5 Dec 2013 Brussels - The European Commission has launched a report with standards for Cloud computing. The report has to put an end to the enormous amount of stnadards and concepts used by Cloud providers. The report includes standards for interoperability, data exchange, and privacy protection.

The European Commission has provided the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) with the task to draw up the report in which the basic conditions for Cloud computing standardisation have been described. A uniform terminology has been defined and there have been made definitions for performance features, known as Key Quality Indicators.

The Cloud Computing Task Force at the Dutch Institute of Normalisation (NEN) will make a selection of the existing standards for the Dutch Practice Guideline, developed by NEN.

Jan Aleman, board member of the advocacy for Dutch Cloud companies, Eurocloud, has contributed to the ETSI report. He stated that it is important for users, providers and auditors to make a selection on the basis of their own risk estimation. Everybody should identify their proper definition for relevance.

The report is available for download at http://csc.etsi.org/Application/documentapp/downloadLatestRevision/?docId=204
