CSC is looking for a HPC specialist

1 Jun 2010 Espoo - CSC - IT Center for Science Ltd. - in Espoo, Finland has currently a vacancy for a HPC specialist. CSC is administered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and provides Finnish academia, research institutes and companies with a wide selection of scientific computing, data storage and networking services. CSC experts work on challenging development and maintenance tasks in hardware environments with support for multiple architectures.

Your duties will include carrying out technology watch in the area of high performance computing and benchmarking new technologies or secondly your duties will include technical maintenance and development of Linux application server and high performance computing cluster systems. You will also participate in important Grid and customer projects. You will also be in customer service helping users in different situations related to HPC computing.

In your job you will be able to further improve your knowledge in the area of HPC and to interact with other people working in the same field all over the world. You will effectively communicate with demanding computational scientific and interest groups nationally and internationally. The work will be done partly within international jobs. Thus some amount of traveling is required in the job.

You hold an appropriate academic degree and have sufficient knowledge in Linux or Unix environment, in HPC systems and parallel computing. As an open personality with good communicative skills you value the collaboration with the customers and are also able to work in application support. CSC expects verbal and written fluency in the English language. Finnish language skills are a plus.

In addition, if you have experience in upcoming HPC technologies (GPGPU, FPGA etc.), you could be an excellent candidate for the job.
