Visualizing Wind: NREL's Tool for Wind Farms


14 Aug 2015 - Transmission and Distribution World magazine reports that the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory announced the Simulator for Wind Farm Applications. The tool can calculate how undulating ground, whipping blades, surface temperatures, and other variables alter the air flow and energy production at wind farms. The magazine runs a number of visualization images of the Energy Systems Integration Facility in Golden, Colorado which simulate an extensive range of scales, from regional weather patterns down to the space between turbines and all the way to the movement of electrons
