11 Jul 2018 Vienna - Starting today, Austria officially joined PRACE, the European supercomputing infrastructure. This has been announced by the Austrian Ministry of Research and Education. The PRACE membership allows Austrian researchers to access even bigger supercomputers than the ones currently available in Austria: The Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) and the MACH 2 supercomputing systems. Austria sees the PRACE membership as a step towards 2020 when EuroHPC will become operational.
The Austrian PRACE membership will be through ACOnet, the Austrian Academic Computer Network.
