13 Jun 2018 Vienna - The Austrian Minister of Education, Science and Research Heinz Faßmann signed the EuroHPC Declaration in Vienna today in the presence of Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society. Austria is the eighteenth European country to join the European effort to build the next generation of exascale supercomputers.
By signing the EuroHPC declaration, Austria has announced its intention of joining the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU) proposed by the European Commission in January 2018, once it is formally adopted by the Council of the European Union. This is expected in the next few months.
Austria is not (yet?) member of the PRACE infrastructure for supercomputing. Most likely Austria will join PRACE too.
