Andrew Dean shares some views on storage wars: file systems vs object storage
26 May 2016 London - On the OCF blog, Andrew Dean shares some views on storage. He sees that in HPC temporary scratch storage there are a few prominent technologies (Spectrum Scale, previously known as GPFS, Lustre and increasingly BeeGFS) and all offer very good performance in a scratch storage environment. Dean says it is difficult to compare object storage and file systems directly as they are completely different technologies. He does not believe there is one clear winner in terms of storage technology.
