Project to create a HPC simulation hub for biomedical and clinical applications funded after appeal
11 Apr 2016 London - A project led by Peter Coveney from the University College of London was first rejected for funding by the European Commission, reports Nature. But after appeal it was funded with about 5 million euro. "I've been told by colleagues that you don't challenge the commission on anything", says Coveney in Nature. "But if your research is in jeopardy as a part of poor decisions, then people should be prepared to challenge them."
Nature also asked several other researchers about whether they would appeal funding decisions.
