Trump announces budget cuts that may give China supercomputer leadership

28 Feb 2017 Washington - Patrick Thibodeau reports in Computer World that possible White House cuts will fall heavily on agencies such as the Department of Energy, which funds exascale supercomputing development. This would give China even more elan in the exascale supercomputer race than they currently have.

Patrick Thibodeau cites Robert Atkinson, president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF): "If the president wants to cut things like exascale computing, we can be absolutely 100% sure that America will be less great."
