Quantum computing

D-Wave Systems Inc., an expert in quantum computing systems, software, and services, has introduced a developer preview of D-Wave Hybrid, a simple, open-source hybrid workflow platform for building and running quantum-classical hybrid applications. D-Wave Hybrid will become part of the Ocean software development kit within D-Wave's Leap Quantum Application Environment (QAE) and is available today for trial and developer input. The D-Wave Hybrid framework provides simplified workflow control to developers, allowing them to use both classical and quantum systems in parallel, gain insight into systems performance, optimize code across systems, and develop quantum hybrid applications more easily. Quantum computing and quantum information processing technology have attracted attention in recently emerging fields. Among many important and fundamental issues in nowadays science, solving Schroedinger Equation (SE) of atoms and molecules is one of the ultimate goals in chemistry, physics and their related fields. SE is "First Principle" of non-relativistic quantum mechanics, whose solutions termed wave-functions can afford any information of electrons within atoms and molecules, predicting their physicochemical properties and chemical reactions. Researchers from Osaka City University (OCU) in Japan, Dr. K. Sugisaki, Profs. K. Sato and T. Takui and coworkers have found a quantum algorithm enabling us to perform full configuration interaction (Full-CI) calculations for any open shell molecules without exponential/combinatorial explosion. Full-CI gives the exact numerical solutions of SE, which are one of the intractable problems with any supercomputers. The implementation of such a quantum algorithm contributes to the acceleration of implementing practical quantum computers. Read further...
"Our models are based on specific quantum functions. They turn classic information into quantum states of photons. Those functions were created to transform algorithms into models of quantum branching programmes. We analyzed their cryptographic properties which turned out to be extensions of properties of classic cryptographic hash functions onto quantum examples. That's why we called them quantum hash functions. We are now analyzing cryptographic protocols based on variants of quantum hash functions", explained Research Associate of the UHF Design and Radio Telecommunications Lab Marat Ablayev. Quantum computers could vastly increase the capabilities of IT systems, bringing major changes worldwide. However, there is still a long way to go before such a device can actually be constructed, because it has not yet been possible to transfer existing molecular concepts into technologies in a practical way. This has not kept researchers around the world away from developing and optimising new ideas for individual components. Chemists at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, have now synthesised a molecule that can perform the function of a computing unit in a quantum computer. Professor Wolfgang Wernsdorfer of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) receives the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize 2019 of the German Research Foundation (DFG). NEC Corporation, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Waseda University, and Yokohama National University announced that they have been selected to participate in the 'Project for Innovative AI Chips and Next-Generation Computing Technology Development', a new project launched by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Also participating in this project will be the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology as NEC's joint implementation partner and Kyoto University as NEC's subcontractor. Oracle has launched the Oracle Cloud Native Framework, providing developers a Cloud native solution that spans public Cloud, on premises and hybrid Cloud deployments. Capitalizing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and the recently announced Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment, the Oracle Cloud Native Framework introduces a rich set of Cloud native managed services and on-premises software.
