At the ISC'18 Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany,Primeur Magazinewitnessed a new technology from XTREME-D and talked about it with Naoki Shibata, Founder and CEO, and David Barkai, Technical Advisor. XTREME-D was founded three years ago and is based in Tokyo. The company is focusing on an HPC Cloud solution and is using some of the elements of the HPC architecture as well as Cloud computing. Two years ago, XTREME-D announced its new product called XTREME-DNA. It is a Cloud-based, virtual, supercomputing-on-demand service. If the customer wants to deploy a virtual supercomputer in the public Cloud, he can use XTREME-DNA. Read further...

Fujitsu has published the specifications for the A64FX CPU to be featured in the post-K computer, a supercomputer being developed by Fujitsu and RIKEN as a successor to the K computer, which achieved the world's highest performance in 2011. Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, has made available T3 instances, the next generation of burstable general-purpose instances for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), providing up to 30% improved price performance than previous generation T2 instances. Designed for applications with variable CPU usage that experience occasional spikes in demand - such as microservices, low-latency interactive applications, small and medium databases, virtual desktops, development environments, code repositories, and business critical applications - T3 instances enable customers' applications to burst seamlessly to meet temporary traffic peaks and then scale back down to operate at typical traffic levels.
