He scetched the present status of Moore's Law and its relevance for future High Performance Computing in 2020 and beyond. The Cloud

The Contrail project team is organizing a Contrail Contest Competition in the framework of the Workshop on Dependability and Interoperability in Heterogeneous Clouds (DIHC13), collocated with Euro-Par 2013, on August 27, 2013 in Aachen, Germany. The rapid evolution of the Cloud market is leading to the emergence of new services, new ways for service provisioning and new interaction and collaboration models both amongst Cloud providers and service ecosystems exploiting Cloud resources. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) govern the aforementioned relationships by defining the terms of engagement for the participating entities. The European Commission has issued a report following the Workshop on "Cloud Computing SLAs in FP7 - Exploitation of Research Results", organised by the unit CONNECT E2 "Software & Services, Cloud" of the European Commission in Brussels on 27 May 2013. IBM has signed a multi-billion dollar, 10-year agreement to transform the IT infrastructure that supports all of UniCredit's commercial and private banking activities in Europe. As a result of this transformation, UniCredit will gain dramatic efficiency and flexibility with the introduction of new service models and a Cloud-based infrastructure for its data centres. Oracle has launched a new release of Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine X3-4. The new system features significant software enhancements and hardware updates, dramatically expanding the capabilities of the industry's first high-speed engineered system for business analytics. The new Exalytics X3-4 system features 2 TB of main memory, 2.4 TB of flash storage, and 5.4 TB of hard disk. TCP, the transmission control protocol, is one of the core protocols governing the Internet: If counted as a computer programme, it's the most widely used programme in the world. One of TCP's main functions is to prevent network congestion by regulating the rate at which computers send data. In the last 25 years, engineers have made steady improvements to TCP's congestion-control algorithms, resulting in several competing versions of the protocol: Many Windows computers, for instance, run a version called Compound TCP, while Linux machines run a version called TCP Cubic.
