Intel Corp. agreed to acquire QLogic Corp.'s InfiniBand business for $125 million in cash, giving it networking technology for the growing and competitive supercomputer market. This acquisition is designed to enhance Intel's networking portfolio and provide scalable high-performance computing (HPC) fabric technology as well as support the company's vision of innovating on fabric architectures to achieve Exaflop/s performance by 2018. Pacific Control Systems, a provider of Cloud computing services for energy management, has completed its strategic acquisition of Infotility, a pioneer of Grid Agents. The acquisition brings together two pioneers of using intelligent software agents, known as 'bots', to control and manage engineering systems. The "AmpaCity" project has been kicked off: The RWE Group and its partners are just about to replace a 1-kilometre-long high-voltage cable connecting two transformer stations in the Ruhr city of Essen with a state-of-the-art superconductor solution. This will mark the longest superconductor cable installation in the world. The chip is composed of three or more processors that are stacked vertically and connected together - resulting in increased speed and multitasking, more memory and calculating power, better functionality and wireless connectivity. AMD has announced revenue for the fourth quarter of 2011 of $1.69 billion, net loss of $177 million, or $0.24 per share, and operating income of $71 million.
