IBM is helping students at York University's Schulich School of Business develop leadership skills by learning to collaborate on course work virtually in the Cloud. In the fall of 2011, 400 students enrolled in "Management 1000" at the Schulich School of Business used IBM's social networking services to aid their semester-long project of creating a comprehensive business plan. Students at Schulich used the IBM SmartCloud for Social Business portfolio for on-line meetings, file sharing, decision making, workload sharing and overall project management. Read further...

Uttam Energy Tech is utilizing both the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2 platform as well as the Red Hat Enterprise 3.0 Beta, with plans to migrate all of its systems to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 upon general availability. Symantec Corp. has introduced an intelligent information governance solution that allows organisations to bridge the gap between business, legal and IT, reduce their risks and costs, and empower employees to work freely in a connected world. In order to enable organisations to better protect their information, establish retention policies and streamline their eDiscovery process, Symantec announced its plans for increased integration between its leading storage and eDiscovery offerings. Additionally, Symantec has acquired LiveOffice, a privately-held Cloud-based archiving expert, for a purchase price of approximately $115 million. The acquisition will extend Symantec's intelligent information governance offering to the Cloud, providing customers choice between on-premise, Cloud or hybrid delivery of Symantec solutions. Analysts are predicting significant movement towards 10GbE in 2012, particularly with the upcoming launch of the Intel Romley and Sandy Bridge with PCI Express 3.0 platform.
