With this infrastructure, BiG Grid and SARA offer self-service, dynamically scalable and fully configurable HPC systems. COSMOS and Miracle Consortia have selected SGI as their preferred technology partner for their shared-memory node, as part of the STFC funded DiRAC collaboration. This is a continuation of the national service offered by Stephen Hawking's COSMOS Consortium, based at the University of Cambridge. The Open Group and the Interactive Technology Software and Media Association (ITSMA) have partnered with a consortium of European and Indian research and technology developers to identify future areas for co-ordination of government funded IT research. Supported by the European Commission, the Fostering Cooperation in Computing Systems for EU and India (EU-INCOOP) project is investing over 460 thousand euro (US$630 thousand) to bring together leading researchers from India and Europe to identify priorities and develop a joint research roadmap that will increase co-operation and address future technology needs in each region. Tufts University Professor of Computer Science Diane L. Souvaine has been elected as a fellow to the Association for Computing Machinery. Diane L. Souvaine, a professor in Tufts School of Engineering, was named a fellow for contributions to computational geometry and for her work on behalf of the computing community by ACM, the world's largest educational and scientific computing society. Researchers at The National Library of Medicine have teamed up with AskTheDoctor.com in a significant step towards developing intelligent computerized medical assistants for doctors. They are using thousands of real-language, unedited medical questions at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland to see if computers can interpret the tone and meaning of questions phrased by on-line patients.
