Citrix Systems has completed the acquisition of ShareFile, a market leading provider of secure, Cloud-based data storage, sharing and collaboration. The ShareFile product line makes it easy for businesses of all sizes to securely store, sync and share business documents and files, both inside and outside the company. ShareFile's centralized Cloud storage capability also allows users to share files across multiple devices and access them from any location. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. IBM and Krasnoyarsk Hydropower Plant have implemented a workload-optimized solution of IBM hardware and software that has improved the plant's business processes by 50 percent and dramatically reduced the number of interrupted operations. Krasnoyarsk Hydropower Plant is Russia's second largest energy-producing plant, according to the amount of electricity produced, and is listed as one of the world's top ten, serving 2.5 million people. Cray has signed a contract to upgrade the Cray XT5 supercomputer nicknamed "Jaguar" located at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to a new Cray XK6 supercomputer, which will be nicknamed "Titan". The Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has awarded a contract to Cray Inc. to increase the Jaguar supercomputer's science impact and energy efficiency. The upgrade, which will provide advanced capabilities in modelling and simulation, will transform the DOE Office of Science-supported Cray XT5 system, currently capable of 2.3 Petaflop/s, into a Cray XK6 system with a peak speed between 10 and 20 Petaflop/s. Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), which operates the world's premier open science computing facility for the U.S. Department of Energy, will deploy a revolutionary new supercomputer, "Titan", based on NVIDIA Tesla GPUs. With the potential to deliver over 20 petaflops of peak performance, Titan, a Cray XK6 supercomputer, would be more than two times faster and three times more energy efficient than today's fastest supercomputer, the K computer located in Japan. The Appro Xtreme-X Supercomputer based on AMD Opteron processors was deployed by Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) Institutional Computing Programme. This deployment represents approximately $10 million in production computing capability. The Xtreme-X Supercomputer will be used to address LANL's HPC needs for unclassified scientific computing and included complete factory-integrated and pre-tested systems with HPC professional services and support. IBM has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Platform Computing, a privately held company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Platform Computing is a global expert in cluster and Grid management software for distributed computing environments. This data warehouse appliance is a fully-integrated system that delivers double the performance and triple the data capacity of its predecessor.
