E4 Computer Engineering specializes in the production and architectural integration of complete and customized solutions, for environments ranging from high performance computing to design of turn-key data centres. E4 HPC customers include leaders such as CERN and ENEA, where they have delivered solutions for workloads ranging from processing data from CERN's Large Hadron Collider to wave modelling in the Mediterranean Sea. At the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) 2015 and following the opening of the company's first global High Performance Computing (HPC) centre in Stuttgart in March 2015, Lenovo will be reaffirming its commitments and ambitions in the high-performance computing sector with a number of new partnerships and initiatives that underpin its position as an expert on the world stage of HPC. These include joining Intel's code modernisation enablement programme and adopting Intel's HPC scalable system framework for future products; a new partnership with Mellanox to accelerate the adoption of EDR 100Gb/s InfiniBand interconnect and server technology; SuperMUC Phase 2 now operational at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, and investments in supporting young talent in the HPC Advisory Council ISC 2015 Student Cluster Competition. IBM along with NVIDIA and two U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratories has opened a pair of Centers of Excellence for supercomputing - one at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the other at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The collaborations are in support of IBM's supercomputing contract with the U.S. Department of Energy. They will enable advanced, large-scale scientific and engineering applications both for supporting DOE missions, and for the Summit and Sierra supercomputer systems to be delivered respectively to Oak Ridge and Lawrence Livermore in 2017 and to be operational in 2018.
