On 27 November 2017, Telindus and SURF signed the SURFnet8 service layer contract. In September, Telindus won the European tender for this, which was awarded by SURF. SURF is upgrading SURFnet network's optical and service layers, thus further enhancing the wired parts of the national education and research network. Telindus and SURF will begin implementing the SURFnet8 service layer in 2018, following the new optical layer. Read further...

The Netherlands eScience Center supports and reinforces multidisciplinary, data and computational intensive research through creative and innovative use of digital technologies in all its manifestations. It stimulates enhanced Science (eScience) by focusing on collaboration with universities, research institutions and industry. The aim is to change scientific practice by making large-scale Big Data analysis and computation possible across multiple scientific disciplines in order to achieve scientific breakthroughs. The SC17 Exhibition doors closed on 16 November 2017 in Denver, Colorado. Now it is time to wrap up all the different activities at the PRACE booth which welcomed the SC visitors from 13 November to 16 November 2017. Focus on Europe

Everyone working on research software in the Netherlands is invited to participate in the RSE survey and spread the word. The Netherlands Research Software Engineer community (NL-RSE) was started to gain insight into the various communities of RSEs in the Netherlands and increase the interaction between them. The RSE surveys in the UK in 2016 and 2017 have allowed to gain valuable insights and spread the word about the RSE movement. That is why the Netherlands eScience Center, ePLAN (Platform of eScience/Data Research Centres in the Netherlands), NL-RSE, and the UK RSE Association are organizing this survey for 2017 in the Netherlands.
