At the HPC in Asia workshop at ISC 2017 in Frankfurt, Brendan Dalton, CSIRO reported on the Australian HPC developments. CSIRO is Australia's National Research and Innovation Agency. It invented WiFi. CSIRO is partner on both peak HPC facilities in Australia. It works with other HPC facilities around Australia. There, it funds collaborative infrastructures for CSIRO research. At the HPC in Asia Workshop during ISC 2017 in Frankfurt, Jon Lau from NSCC reported about HPC developments in Singapore. NSCC is the National Supercomputing Centre of Singapore. It houses the national petascale facility. The centre started in 1988 with a NEC SX1 supercomputer. Since 2015 it has a petascale supercomputer. The vision of NSCC is to democratize the access to supercomputing: it supports Singapore's R&D initiatives; it attracts industrial research collaborations; and it enhances Singapore's research capabilities.
