ScienceNode reports on how the Mira supercomputer enables higher-resolution models and more accurate forecasts. According to ScienceNode NOAA's National Center for Environmental Prediction currently runs two hourly-updating atmospheric forecast models at grid spacing of 13 km and 3 km that can only simulate weather on flat terrain.
