The Leibniz Supercomputing Centre LRZ, in Munich, published the new book with results and reports of SuperMUC supercomputer projects. The title is "High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering, Garching/Munich 2016". Over the last two years of operation, SuperMUC Phase 1 and Phase 2 have produced an enormous amount of scientific results. CINECA has published issue 3 of their Magazine. This issue contains a bacground article on European Exascale developemts by Jean-François Lavignon, Chairman of ETP4HPC. He explains the Strategic Research Agenda of the organisations and the role it plays in European policy developments. The Magazine also contains articles on exascale applications including "MaX: materials design at the exascale" and "Advanced Computer Graphics for Cultural Heritage". Iain Bethune describes in an EPCC blog ExTASY: a flexible and scalable approach to biomolecular simulation. The ExTASY project has developed a Python framework - Ensemble Toolkit - which provides a powerful but user-friendly API for coding workflows involving ensemble MD simulations coupled to tools which analyse the results of the simulations and propose new start-points for further MD in an iterative 'Simulation-Analysis Loop' pattern.
