The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) is once again organizing a programme for guest students in the 2016 summer vacation. The programme is supported by CECAM - Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire. It targets students of science and engineering, computer science and mathematics who have already completed their first degree but have not yet finished their master's course. Read further...

Applications

Fujitsu has finished a pilot project that started in 2014 and aimed and deploying HPC in the Scottisch Highlands using HPC equipment at HPC Wales. A pilot scheme was conducted with DP Digital Media, based in Dingwall in Ross-shire, which used animations to allow work on a multi-million pound flood protection scheme to be seen from a whole new perspective. Thomas Hogben, head of production at DP Digital Media, told this to Hebrides news today. Beneath the water of the river Ness, a series of 25ft high steel piles were driven into the riverbank to prevent water seeping through to cause flooding and damage to roads and buildings. DEEP-ER and its predecessor project DEEP will be present at this year's CeBIT via Jülich Supercomputing Centre at Booth #C30/D29 in Hall 6. On show will be the GreenICE Booster: This is an immersive-liquid cooled implementation of the DEEP Booster architecture developed by project partner University of Heidelberg; and a Booster Node Card (BNC) with 2 Intel Xeon Phis and Coldplate.
