According to China daily China will ban export of high-performance computers. Computers with greater performance than 8 Tflop/s will not be allowed for export, said an announcement jointly issued by the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs. Cliff Brereton has left the Hartree Centre as director. On his personal page he put his thoughts on the development of the centre and HPC in the UK and the world. Brereton writes: "The strategy we developed at Hartree around data analytics and its convergence with HPC (High Performance Computing) in 2013 was hugely ahead of its time (they all talk about it now!). The current Hartree '4 Forces of change' strategy likewise, I don't see matched elsewhere in its forward thinking." Read further...
