Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Jesus Labarta is bloging: "The survival machine and surviving the machines" on the ISC site about exascale developments. According to Labarta, the OmpSs programming model and NANOS runtime are part of the way forward. The Deep project, which is further developing OmpSs, will present at the workshop "Is Europe Ready For Exascale? A Summary of Four Years of European Exascale Research" at ISC 2015 in Frankfurt. A broad coalition of companies and users are joining forces to create the Open Container Project (OCP)/ This was announced at the DOCKERCON conference in San Francisio. The Open Container Project is chartered to establish common standards for software containers. Several HPC-in-the-Cloud and Crowd computing initiatives, including The Ubercloud and Nerdalize, are already deploying Docker. Hence, having open standards around container technology could have a big impact on HPC. Read further...
